Getting a little something something on the side when, BAM!, your significant other suddenly busts you? Wanna know how she found out? (No, not your SMS chat history.) Apparently, women have a tool for knowing when a man is cheating on them, it’s called their eyes.
Yes, according to a new study by Australian researchers (who were thinking about cheating on their wives but clearly wanted to know the exact risks), women can tell a cheating man just by looking at them.
Women can tell with some accuracy whether an unfamiliar male is faithful simply by looking at his face…according to an Australian study published on Wednesday.
Women tended to make that judgment based on how masculine the man appeared. (Good news for all you effeminate-looking horn-dogs out there!)
Male attractiveness, however, had no correlation to infidelity. Basically if you look like a Neanderthal, sooner or later, you’re probably going to end up on Cheaters.
Faithfulness is seen as important in the context of sexual relationships and mate choice, the scientists wrote in the paper. Men with unfaithful partners risk raising another man’s child, while women with unfaithful partners risk losing some, or even all, parental and other resources to competitors.
Sadly, men have no such innate ability. In the study, guys assumed that attractive, feminine women would be unfaithful, but they were mostly wrong (probably because female attractiveness didn’t evolve to attract the most sex, it evolved to attract the best mate). So guys have to find out if a girl is cheating the old fashioned way: By hiring a private detective.
In a nutshell, the lesson here is: If you’re the kind of guy who likes to play the field and spread your seed far and wide, you might want to go after blind chicks.
